Gugo – Tafuta kwa Kiswahili is a mobile application developed by ChuiTec that enables users to search the internet using the Kiswahili language. The app was created to provide a simple and localized search experience for Kiswahili speakers, making online information more accessible to users who prefer searching in their native language. The goal of this project was to design and develop an intuitive Android application with a clean user interface, fast search functionality, and an experience optimized for everyday mobile users. The application was also built to support future feature enhancements and wider adoption among Kiswahili-speaking communities.
The primary challenge was creating a search application that delivers a familiar and seamless experience while focusing on Kiswahili as the primary language of interaction. The app needed to provide a lightweight interface, fast performance, and simple navigation that could be used by people with varying levels of digital literacy. It also had to be optimized for different Android devices while maintaining reliability, usability, and an engaging user experience.
